Moeller PS4: service, program backup and retrofit

The PS4-141, PS4-151, PS4-201 and PS4-341 compact controllers are installed in countless machines. Several devices are often networked via Suconet K. If one fails, things quickly get tight.

Typical situations

  • The PS4 is running, but the program only exists as a printout or not at all.
  • The old programming PC with Sucosoft S40 is broken or can no longer be found.
  • An input or output expansion fails, and a replacement is hard to get.
  • Several PS4 units are coupled via Suconet K and are to be replaced together.

Our approach

First we back up the program directly from the controller and make it readable. Then you decide together with us: continue operating with a spare parts reserve, or retrofit. In a retrofit, we usually replace the PS4 with a Siemens S7-1500 with ET 200SP or an S7-1200; where Beckhoff is the standard, with an embedded PC and EtherCAT terminals.

Frequently asked questions

Can a PS4 program be read out without the original project?

As a rule yes, as long as the controller is running. We read out the program and prepare it so that it can serve as the basis for changes or a retrofit.

What is the best replacement for a PS4?

For small machines a Siemens S7-1200, for larger or networked plants an S7-1500 with ET 200SP. If Beckhoff is your standard, you get an embedded PC with TwinCAT 3.

What happens to the Suconet K network?

In a retrofit, we usually replace Suconet K with PROFINET or EtherCAT. Whether individual nodes continue to be used temporarily is clarified during the survey.

Which controller runs your plant?

Send us the type, year of manufacture and a photo of the control cabinet. You will get an honest assessment of whether repair, data backup or a retrofit makes sense.
